"We will do It because It hasn´t been proved that is impossible"
Spanish ceramists work on World's largest ceramic mural

The handmade mural will complete the construction of the Convention Center in Oran (Algeria). It has been ordered to the spanish company Cerámica San Ginés by the international construction company OHL.
The spanish company Cerámica San Ginés is carrying out the largest ceramic tile mural in the world, which will be exhibited on the outside of the Oran Convention Center, whose inauguration will be held in April 2010.
The mural is 60 meters wide by 35,4 meters high. For its production, it will be necessary 55.000 tiles. San Ginés counts on the collaboration of several workshops in Talavera (Spain) to execute this work that reproduces, in big dimensions, a design of the Algerian artist Tewfik Boumehdi.
Regarding its characteristics, the mural is made up of floral motifs typical from the decorative arts in North Africa. The technique used is named "sobrecubierta", common in Talavera, with handmade decoration on silicated oxides.
The mural will be presented to public in April, coinciding with the celebration of the XVI World Liquefied Gas Conference (GNL 16), organized by Sonatrach, the hydrocarbon state-owned company.
For Cerámica San Ginés, this project serves as recognition of its internationalization strategy.
